My awesome friend Kate picked up this dress at an antique mall a few years ago. Besides the fabulous style, it also has an Edith Head label. Wow!
It still had the original paper hang tags attached, so it probably had never been worn.
The dress was part of a fashion line that was released after the success of the movie Airport.
Edith Head was a wonderful costume designer who won 8 Academy Awards, but had little experience as a fashion designer. The clothing line was not successful and was removed from the market.

I often encouraged my friend Kate to wear the dress, but she never had the right occasion. She tragically passed away last year after a brave battle with breast cancer.
She and I shared a love of vintage clothing, and this dress was her last gift to me.

I miss her every day. When I wear the dress, it will be in her memory.
